Indeed, which is more damaging? Being fearfully and wonderfully made for a purpose by a personal, loving creator, endowed and blessed with dominion, power, wisdom, rational thought, morals, and so much more. Or, being classified as an animal, here by accident, struggling to win, maintain, and sustain an identity. Take a look at the photo. Which do you think is more damaging?
My own frustration with this Facebook photo stems from the misrepresentation of the Christian story portrayed in the left column. Yes, we are broken and flawed – no one is righteous, not even one. But that wasn’t God’s intent, or religion’s doing. Death wasn’t even God’s intent. According to religion (Christianity), we’re so important God tore Himself apart to come get us and bring us home. We were made for glory.
The left column should be titled, According To Our Rebellion We Are: broken, flawed, sinful…etc.
We’ve rebelled and still rebel against God’s law and rule. This photo is a real-life example of it. People are literally cheering for the right column, blatantly ignoring (perhaps simply ignorant or blind) to God’s law. We choose not to live for Him. Instead, we determine good and evil for ourselves. We choose our own path, doing what we want to do when and how we want to do it.
Uprooted from the Source of life, we wilted. It’s no wonder we’re broken. But that’s not the end of the story. Christ is – and His Kingdom.
What do you think?
