Does Organized Religion Bug You?

I used to have a lot of contempt for organized religion. Don’t get me wrong, I still have issues with it. No one likes hypocrisy, or people who feel like they’re superior because of their faith. That aside, the local church does a heck of a lot more than my whining about it has ever done, about anything.

Recently, I witnessed the global impact of a local church. A new pastor in Croatia didn’t have a computer. A woman contacted a local US church about this and provided a $500 donation toward a new one. The local church tripled the donation and purchased the young pastor a brand new Mac book Pro.

The US pastor has plans to personally deliver the computer on an upcoming overseas trip, as well as to provide support and encouragement.

It takes “organization” to do this. There was a need. A woman reached out. The local church “organization” collected the funds. There was a heck of a lot of “organization” behind the scenes to quickly respond to this worthy cause.

This is living – healthy living. It’s also one of millions of acts that organized religion pulls off every day. Cut it some slack. Better yet, try helping out.
