How I Can Be Happy – Part 5

I woke up this morning, and before I had my pants on I had at least 6 negative thoughts. Seriously. I was cursing because I couldn’t find matching black socks. I was worried about the traffic. I wasn’t too happy about having to take out the trash. The list goes on. These thoughts are happiness killers. They can go on all day.

If I want to be happy I need to change the way I think. This is a lot easier said than done. We all tend to develop thinking patterns – and they’re not too healthy. The origins of our negative thinking can wait. We need to deal with it now – if we want to be happy, now.

The worry and anxiety over work, money, the future, is draining. We were not meant to think like this. The absolute best thing though, is this – we can change it immediately. We don’t even have to believe it. We can fake it. It can’t hurt to verbalize “I can be happy” or “I’m going to have a great day” or “I’m so glad I got to take a shower.”

Think of it this way, God has good things in store for us. It can be very difficult to see these “good things” in the midst of worry, fear, anger, and emotions. However, when we take a step forward with a positive thought, it’s an act of hope – hope for a happier life. God wants this. He’ll help you get there. Doors will open. People will enter your life. Start will small positive thoughts. Before you know it, you’ll be reaching for the moon.

What are your thoughts?
